I still had to post the short video impression of the BullChipmeet at Abbeville. So yesterday I quickly edited it. It’s nothing fancy as I haven’t almost filmed anything during those two days. So I basically put in it everything that I have filmed. Summer plans and Melissa Pemberton
20 MayJust got some great news! I might be going to the oldtimer show at Hahnweide this September. It promises to have some very (very!) nice participants. Not only the quality is great but looking at the total number of participants the quantitative side seems amazing too. And Hahnweide might bring some extra fun if things go well… All of this might make it unnecessary to go to the Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford this year. Unless I find transportation, money and time (in order of importance). Than I might give it a try too. Anyway, summer starts to look good. If things go well I’ll go to Wittmund, Diest, Hahnweide, Sanicole/Air to air Academy and the Opendoor at Melsbroek. I’ll also try to get some shots at Moorsele during the annual ‘Springweek‘ and I have some other things in mind that I’d like to photograph! More importantly I’ll have to pass all my exams in the upcoming month or I might have to miss some of the events on my list… It’s all about studying now!
Below another pic from the Sanicole ’11 album. I had the luck to photograph in front of the crowd line, between the planes. It gave me some nice photo opportunities like this one: Melissa Pemberton ready to take the Extra 300 for a spin. I tried to be subtle with the HDR (except for the clouds).

Sanicole ’11
14 MayI’m still busy editing the Chipmeet photo’s so I have to start another album. After a little search through my previous blogpost I decided to finish the Sanicole Airshow 2011 album. For some reason I have only uploaded 5 of these pics. You can see them here, here, here and here. There aren’t that many pictures left as I focussed on the ground shots that day.
The pic below shows the two commentators on the show. I was quite happy when Sean Maffett came to me last year to say he really liked the picture used in the Sanicole 2012 program. It was another one I made of them in 2011, both looking up in the skies while they were talking to the audience. Normally they pose while looking in the lens, not doing what they do at an airshow. I tried to capture them in the midst of their work and they liked it. They were happy and I was happy because they were.
Something different now: the Chipmeet. I’ve been quite busy editing the pictures from last weeks Chipmeet. I’m quite happy with some of the results, others are less good unfortunately. I hope to get a nice series of photo’s that show the entire meeting, not only the planes. The conditions weren’t optimal unfortunately with lots of wind and some rain too. I’ve included a little preview below. Comments are welcome as always off course. Bullchipmeet
12 MayI’m back after two days of photographing Chipmunks during the BullChipmeet at Abbeville. As most of the time when I go to France the weather was bad, but it didn’t ruin everything. There were 14 Chipmunks which made for a great view and some nice photo opportunities. Unfortunately no Bulldogs made it. On Friday we had a splendid sunset and also yesterday the sun broke through the dark clouds in the evening which gave a nice lighting for the pictures. The sun did it’s work to late unfortunately, so the big formation of 13 Chipmunks got cancelled and with that also my only chance for a photoflight. The flight would have had me in a DR400 next to the big formation. Like said in a previous blogpost I would have tried to film too, but I was so busy taking pictures I forgot about it. So you may expect some very simple (underexposed) clips edited together on our Vimeopage in the upcoming weeks (instead of a well filmed and edited movie about the Chipmeet…). So, no photoflight but some very nice ground shots from the Chipmunks, the people and a Fouga certainly made up for it! Already looking forward to next years edition.

Mad Mike Drifting
8 MayA bit of inspiration in todays blogpost. And a spectacular blogpost as Mike Whiddett drives his Mazda to the extreme. Damn well filmed and edited. If I could combine filming with photography I wouldn’t mind to give it a try. Unfortunately previous attempts have shown that you can only do one thing properly. Before the real avgeeks start to complain that this isn’t a plane; there are some fine heli shots in the clip as well as in the making of.

7 MayPart 14 out of 15, which is perfect. I’ll end this series on Thursday and on Friday and Saturday I’ll be at the BullChipmeet. I’m really eager to get some good new shot’s so you may expect a blogpost about that on Sunday or Monday! And if I don’t forget I’ll make some short video’s to post on our Vimeo page.
